Alice Duffy Mahoney passed away February 17, 2008, in Plano, TX. She was born August 14, 1931, in Boston, Massachusetts. Mrs. Mahoney was a first-grade teacher for 38 years, 31 of those years at Memorial Drive Elementary in Houston. She touched the lives of hundreds of children and set them on the path to success.
Mrs. Mahoney had a bachelors degree in teaching from the University of Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Francis X. Mahoney. Surviving are her sister, Helen Dalton; her son, Francis X. Mahoney, Jr.; her son, Stephen P. Mahoney and his wife, Leisa Carlisle; her daughter, A. Jean Mahoney, and her husband, Robert J. Sparks.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Frwy at Eldridge. The memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 20. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Massachusetts Boston Graduate College of Education.
